When Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer set out to launch his new brand, Own The Dash, he needed a partner that could deliver his message with precision, clarity, and the quality his name demanded. Dakota chose Bahlr to produce a powerful commercial introducing Own The Dash and to refine the visual elements representing the brand.
Context and Background
Dakota Meyer is one of the few living recipients of the Medal of Honor, awarded by President Barack Obama for his heroic actions in Afghanistan during the Battle of Ganjgal. His accomplishments extend beyond military service: Dakota is a public speaker, author, entrepreneur, and advocate. He has appeared at major national events, including the inauguration of President Donald Trump, and has become a voice of resilience and leadership in American culture.
The Story
Dakota reached out to Corey Jeppesen and the Bahlr team to produce and create a commercial for his new lifestyle and motivational brand, Own The Dash. The project brought Dakota to Spokane and Coeur d’Alene for a two-day shoot, where we worked closely with him to capture his message, refine the brand presentation, and craft a high-quality piece that would launch Own The Dash into the world.
This video became the foundation of the brand’s public presence, earning accolades from the American Advertising Federation and standing as a testament to Bahlr’s capability to work with brands of any scale.

When Dakota came to us, Own The Dash already had a logo created by a previous designer. We made subtle adjustments and improvements to increase clarity and versatility across digital and print mediums. We do not claim to have created the brand—just refined it so Dakota could step forward with a polished, functional visual identity.
